The Psych-ed Up Family

Once upon a time,
there was a bunch of students who felt that their Uni life was made up for much more than the academics.

At some point, they got tired of just complaining and sitting around waiting for something to happen. It finally dawned upon them, that if ANYTHING was to happen at all- it was they who should roll up their sleeves & put their own two cents of an effort to make something happen.

Hence at the suggestion of a lecturer nicknamed as "teddy bear", these peeps decided that they needed no more prompting and would form a Psychology Club (PC).

After garnering and rallying support from the lecturers and students alike, a general election was held and lo & behold 8 very Gung-Ho students formed the very first core committee of PC (along the way a few more wonderful assistants hopped on as well).

& so... they began their journey!

An arduous task they had. It wasn't easy at all... policies, constitutions, and the foundation of the system of their club had to be formed from scratch (expectations were high too! if I may add..).

SO what did them peeps said?

Duh~ Of COURSE We can bloody do this!!!!!

So they went about doing~

& much they did indeed :D

From our very first (& very primitive) publicity effort at announcing the
existence of the Psychology Club

To Our *yawwwn* never ending 8am weekly committee meetings at McD's
(this particular meeting coincided with Hui Ru's b'day)

What's a club without its members? Here we are at Club's day /
our every semester's membership drives.

PC's first ever activity! Logo & t-shirt designing contest!

The Biggest project we attempted!
A month chock-full of psychology
themed programs such as... Psychology Movie screenings (made by psych
students), hosting numerous talks on mental health, playing psych themed games.

A two day event at the lobby~

We like goofing off a lot!

Administering & interpreting personality tests, career tests & learning
styles tests. Over 200 students at our uni participated in this activity.

Here we are all dressed up "professionally",
even though we really do prefer jeans & tees!

We did our own deco alright?! Admire it or else!

One of the talks we hosted, this one's a talk on hypnosis by Mr. Sylvester!

Play Therapy Workshop lead by our psych senior Mr. Kelvin Wong. He's the man! Oh, for more info / if you wanna contact him, ask me ;)

We hosted the psych card games Oh-Card & Personita. It was nerve wrecking coming up with the hut which you see in the pic now. Believe me it was!

Next...........
The committee of the club went to see ELEPHANTS!! at Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary. Do look it up and go visit the place :) It's really a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

& we like goofing off ~
The dinner thereafter at a western food stall in Ampang overlooking a wonderful view of KL (sorry not in pic).

And then there was~~~

Our Welcoming Party!!! Aimed at gathering our members together and letting them stew.

& stew....they did! Amidst a whole afternoon of fun & games.

Ending in a wonderful makan session, barbeque & potluck style!! We were all bursting through our clothing by the end of it all!

Up next...there's more to come!

We went for a Firefly trip!!!!! It's in Selangor, go check it out. A fun-time Guaranteed!

A quick stop at Melawati Hill~

Group pic at Melawati Hill!!

Malaysia's favourite pastime, FOOD!!!!! Here we are at the Seafood Restaurant. Hang on, YAMMMMMMMMMMM SENG!

& then we move on~
The Psych Club Committee. Yes we are quite a lovely bunch!

last but not least......... Came the General Elections.

Opening speech

After all was said & done..... all that's left is for us to.... Take more photots!!!

Alright, alright... Fine! When the elections were over, we had a handover. Ya happy?!

& when I said last but not least...I meant it. So Our favourite was the last actually: More food!!!!

As you may clearly see, since we took the trouble to pose in front of the restaurant. We had our farewell at TGIF. *wink*

And we end it with "Cheers......"

It was a wonderful journey. Now that it has come to an end...let's all wish all the best to the New bunch of peeps takin over the job. Had it been only yesterday that we came into the role...?

Well.
ALL the BEST guys!!!
I can only wish that your experience with the psyched-up family is just as colourful as mine (or even more?).

After 9 months of running together with you non-stop...

It is finally time to let go. Thank you for making such an impact on my life at university.
The friends I've made, the experiences we shared, the challenges which we grabbed & ran like mad with, the support given by our peers and lecturers, the 8am meetings fueled by undying passion, commitment & coffee.... It's time to buckle down and look forward to more ahead of me.

To the wonderful committee of whom I've now come to regard as my dear friends..Thank you for believing in me. Without your support and motivation, & our crazy synergy, we could not have reached the heights we've achieved today.
All the best in all your future undertakings my dear friends.

Alrighty, I have to stop now. Or else I'll never shut up or get too mushy (too late for that~).

Goodbye now, PC.
